I typically start out a session with posed photos. Kids (and parents!) are still warming up to me, so this is a great time for more static images. Even though I say posed, I’m still interacting with the family. I’m just getting everyone standing still, looking at the camera.
I’m always in search of new locations! I stumbled upon this park after getting a tip from a client. Before booking a job there, I went alone to walk the park and see if it would work for my criteria.
What I look for when choosing a location:
My go-to pose for families with wiggly little ones is putting the kids in front of them. This way, the kids have some movement, but they’re contained!
I love being able to document a family’s time in Southern California! If you don’t live by a beach, there’s something really special about being able to experience it. If I can, I choose a low tide day, so the ocean isn’t so intimidating.
Moms! This is for you! You’re probably the one behind the camera, so this is your chance to schedule a session just for you and your kids (no matter how old they are!)
The sessions will be on May 14 at my studio in Long Beach. Of course, you’re welcome to bring husbands or grandparents…but this session is for you!
Moms! This is for you! You’re probably the one behind the camera, so this is your chance to schedule a session just for you and your kids (no matter how old they are!)
The sessions will be on April 23 at sunset at Seal Beach Pier. Of course, you’re welcome to bring husbands or grandparents…but this session is for you!
I love a muted color palette for spring photo sessions. This family chose spring colors that aren’t over powering. They go so well with the de-saturated greens!
Celebrate Valentine’s with a mini-session for your kids or the whole family! You can use my valentine’s day themed (simple) props or just use the scenery and take photos you’ll love forever.
The mini-sessions are 15 minutes and will be on January 22 at Huntington Beach Central Park. The session fee is $100 and the digital image fee (20+ images) is $250.

After they finished their home, this sweet family asked me to photograph them with their twin boys. The home has so much natural light. The color palette is mainly soft neutral colors, which is perfect for this type of session.
We moved from room to room and let the boys play. It was exactly what you think of when you hear lifestyle photography. They did what they always do with the boys, right down to the bath!
HSL sliders in Lightroom allow you to change the Hue, Saturation, and Luminance of the photo.
The sliders are divided into each color group: red, orange, yellow, green, aqua, blue, purple, magenta. Each color then has a slider for hue, saturation and luminance (HSL).
