I mentioned on Monday that I’d share Jeff’s new CD in the near future, so today’s the day!  I shot the band on a rainy evening at the BART station and the effect is pretty cool.  I can take no credit for the finished product of the CD.  The amazing Tabitha had the vision and put the whole thing together.  I just got to show up and shoot the picture.  Tabitha is so organized she even arranged a personal umbrella holder for me!

I just got off the phone with Jeff to try to provide a link to purchase a CD, but he told me it was number 2 on his to-do list for the week.  🙂  So as soon as Jeff makes it to number 2, I’ll post a link because seriously it’s a CD you need to own!
One other thing I forgot to share was the final product for the Grounded Magazine cover I shot.  Again, Tabitha put it together, so all praise can go to her.  She just puts the idea in my head and sets me loose with a camera.

And the last thing I wanted to share was a picture I took today when I picked up Jillian from school.  I keep going to the open field I’m using for my Easter mini-sessions this Saturday.  I want to practice in bright sun in case it’s very sunny on Saturday.  There’s no option for shade, so I have some lighting scenarios worked out for all weather conditions!  Anyway, we went out to the field with a new prop umbrella I just bought and Jillian asked me to sit under the umbrella with her while I was photographing her.  I put the camera on timer, ran over there and threw my sunglasses off at the last minute.  I was happily surprised since I don’t have that many pictures of us together!

…for old trucks.  Maybe it’s from growing up in Montana and seeing lots of them!  I ran into this old truck parked in the street and asked if I could take Kira’s picture in front of it.

Plus, the last time I took Kira’s picture she wasn’t sporting her super cute pink glasses, so we had to document that as well.  Here she is with her mom…

It’s been a busy weekend…so even though this post was supposed to be dedicated to the session I had this morning, it’s going to be sort of a catch-all post!
Sunday was spent with the Millers…two brothers with the sweetest wives ever!  I love this picture because I was snapping away when all of a sudden Ethan reached up and everyone looked at him.  It was such a cute moment.  I’m so glad I caught it. 🙂

The weekend finished with my friend Jeff Zabel’s album release concert.  I mentioned before that I was going to be photographing the band for the cd cover and I still haven’t shared that yet.  Don’t worry…it’s coming!  I just got my own copy of the cd last night.  The concert was amazing and I’m really blessed to call these people friends. 🙂
This morning I got to work with Marci again…mom of the super cute Semira.  We were photographing clothing for Gigi Creations and as always Marci and I worked at the speed of lighting to get it all done!

Semira can pull off all the bright/vibrant colors…doesn’t she look amazing!!  I think she’s pondering her cuteness in the picture below. 🙂

Lastly, I’ll share Jillian in a few outfits for Stephanie of Gigi Creations.  This is the same field I’ll be at on Saturday for the Easter mini-sessions.

I love these swirly monograms that Stephanie does…so fun and different!

Part of what I love about my job is going places that I would probably never make it to on my own.  I spent Friday morning trailing Samantha and Berlin around Briones Park…beautiful trails and meadows, majestic trees and the prettiest field of yellow flowers.
Here they are, enjoying the day…

And this shot will look amazing as a 10×20 print…even though in looks tiny on my blog!

Berlin was such a chatty little girl…and looked directly at me in most of the pictures, which is rare for a 14 month old!  Normally they are always looking down!

And I think this is one of my favorites from the day.  Color images really do Briones justice, but this image just worked in black and white!

Samantha is surprising her husband with these pictures for his birthday.  And I found out even more fun things, like the fact that they met in the field of yellow flowers, which used to be a Christmas Tree lot.  And Samantha grew up running around Briones as a kid…I love all the tie-ins!  It was an absolute pleasure!!

This post is late in coming, but too cute not to share!  A few days before Valentine’s Day, my friend Jessica brought this by my house. 

I got to take pictures of her son Jackson during my Valentine’s mini-sessions and I just love what she did with the wallets.  It doesn’t look too difficult to put together, but my how cute and makes the hot cocoa she gave me even sweeter!  I just wanted to put this idea out there for all the clients who have signed up for my Easter mini-sessions.  Do something fun with your wallets! 🙂
On to the cocoa…this is the best hot cocoa I’ve EVER had.  She got it from The Bittersweet Cafe  in Berkeley and it has made me want to make a trip there. 
Here’s what it looks like:

It tastes like drinking an expensive chocolate bar…so yummy!  When the boys went to an all boys birthday party last rainy weekend, Jillian and I got out the hot cocoa for a little treat!

If you live in the Bay Area…you must go get yourself something from The Bittersweet Cafe!  If you don’t, be thankful that they offer an online selection. 🙂

This morning I was getting the kids ready for school and Cooper came into the bathroom for me to do his hair wearing this…

Let me remind you…he’s in kindergarten.  This little guy has style.  He’s always done things his own way and for most part I just let him be his stylish self.  Brent asked me if I was really going to let him wear this to school and I said why not.  Who can get upset with a kindergartener that wants to wear a blazer to school?  I bet his teach will get a little snicker out of it. 🙂
I did change one thing with his outfit…can you guess what it was?

If you look closely his shoes are on the wrong feet. 🙂  There’s something really cute about shoes on the wrong feet.  But it makes gym class a little harder!

This week I was checking out locations for a future session and came across Earl Warren Park.  Many of my clients like having their session at a park, because it’s a comfortable setting for kids.  While I love photographing kids on playground equipment, seeing the same new plastic stuff has left me longing for something…different.  Earl Warren Park is one of the places that has somehow slipped through the park renovation cracks.  I love the retro equipment, like this cool red tire swing.

Earl Warren also has a nice old bridge that is perfect for pictures as well!

So, if you’re a local client, Earl Warren Park is a fun option to consider for your photo session!

I had such a great time with my clients during the Valentine mini-sessions, I had to bring them back for Easter.  This time they’ll be kicked up a notch with some super cool Easter props.  I hit the jackpot this week when I found this amazing victorian chair and settee.  It completed my vision of using it in an open field for a totally unique setting!

The mini-sessions will be 20 minutes and are good for up to three people.  More than three are welcome, but will need to book two sessions to ensure an adequate amount of time.
Here are the details about the sessions…

The fee is $49 and includes your 20 minute session with 5-10 artistically edited images in an online gallery, along with 8 wallets and a 5×7.  Additional prints can be ordered- prices are available on my website.  The first 3 people to sign up will receive a FREE 8×10!
I have several Easter templates, which can be used for the wallets and 5×7, but are not required.

Bring your Easter baskets and cute little outfits…I’ll bring bunny ears, my chairs and more for the kids!  We had a blast shooting in this open field, so join in on the fun Saturday, March 8.

I met Quentin and his mom this afternoon for a session at the park.  He’s updating his portfolio…and let me tell you, this little guy is talented!  From choir, to cub scouts to dirt biking, he does it all!
And is handsome to boot…

Quentin’s mom told me that ever since he was little he has owned a suit to wear to his choir performances…even though it wasn’t mandatory.  He raised the bar and now all the boys are wearing suits.  Wouldn’t you if you looked like this!?

And he had to bring this, since he just got a new bike!

Lastly a little grunge…his mom was laughing at all the spots I picked to shoot.  A mossy little corner looks pretty cool!
