To be honest, I’ve been floundering this week.  It didn’t start out great when I dropped my kitchen aid mixer on my new wood floors, which ended up chipping the wood and leaving my mixer out of commission.  Add into the mix the stress from taking on a lot of projects and a four day work week–I was feeling the short end of the stick.

So, when the aforementioned disaster happened, Brent immediately got to work arranging for our floors to be fixed and my mixer to be “looked at” by Bruce, who can fix anything.  I wasn’t hopeful at first as he opened it up and wasn’t able to diagnose the problem.  After taking it home for a few days, I came home tonight to a fixed mixer and a kind note on my kitchen counter.

My grumpy attitude this week melted away when I read Bruce’s hand-written note about how the mixer would be known as good old 489.  2 Corinthians 4:8-9 says “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

He’s the best father in law a girl could ask for.  Kind and thoughtful– able to fix anything.  Even though I was probably a little dramatic about how my week started out, things are looking up and I’m feeling hopeful.  Hopeful that I’ll get all my work finished by tomorrow and be ready to enjoy the long weekend.

Since this post was about my mixer, I’ll include some pictures of lemon bars that I recently made.  I need to make another batch for Bruce!

I should mention that I think my husband is pretty fantastic too…especially for putting up with me this week!
