If you’re a fan of 10 minute projects like me, head over to Little Skye blog where I’m guest posting about Bottle Art today. My brother brought home these coca-cola bottle from Oman. I loved the Arabic writing and wanted to add them to my shelf. I love how the color turns them into art!
I’m a list-maker. Well, I’m lots of things beyond a list-maker. But making lists is something I do every day. I have an understated gray moleskin notebook and I like to make lists with little boxes in quaint hand-writing that I can actually check off. Yes, I know there’s an app for that.
There’s just something gratifying about making a list and checking off the tasks as I complete them. Do you make lists? How do you accomplish all that needs to happen in a day? I bet you use the app. Or maybe you just have it all tucked away in the back of your head.
Either way, summer is around the corner. We are in our last few weeks of school. And that means the lists will go down by at least half. I won’t have to remember to buy granola bars for the track meet or that the science fair project is due Monday. I will have to entertain three squirmy kids, but that’s another story. 🙂
I’ve had blogging on my to-do list for what felt like a week. When I sat down to write this I realized it had been a month since I posted anything new. Oops. Man, how time flies! We just finished Spring Break and with all the 80 degree days we’ve been spending time at the beach, at the pool, barbequing. I feel like we’re getting a jump-start on summer. Not that I’m complaining!
This photo session was out in Trabuco Canyon. It’s one of my new favorite spots. I’ve mentioned my childhood in Montana, so it’s no surprise that I’m drawn to rustic. But, then mix in some mustard flowers. LOVE.
Also love this sweet little family and the new addition they’ll be welcoming in a few short months…
Photographing newborns is such an intimate session. I love having a slow two hours to spend with each family. I’m not running around like I do at outdoor sessions with families. The pace is slow and patience is key. Especially when it comes to involving older siblings. I’ve written about how to photograph newborns with their siblings here and more newborn tricks of the trade here. But, sometimes, they just make it totally easy on me and do everything I nicely ask. 🙂 Either way, getting photographs of a new family is so rewarding and one of my favorite parts of my job.
If you’ve never had portraits with your children, this is the perfect opportunity. I’ve scouted the most amazing location…it’s peaceful, idyllic and just about perfect. I’m offering 30 minute sessions (instead of the normal 20) for $100 and a free digital image to the first four that sign up and pay for their session. I wanted to include some extra time here because, really it truly is gorgeous! Now, even though this is the perfect session for moms….you can also book it for just the kids or the whole family!
The sessions will be held in Trabuco Canyon on April 26. I’ll start with 3:30 (filled), 4:00, 4:30, 5:00 (filled) and 5:30. To secure your spot, either pay through square (all your info will come to me an email) or you can call or email (contact buttons on the left.)
Today, I’m headed out with some cute kids to scout. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day tasks of running a business. I get weighed down by the mundane, so this little experience of looking for new places that inspire me puts the wind back in my sail. I can’t wait to share new places with you that will have you ooohing and ahhing right along with me!
// This photo was recently taken at a commercial child photography session in Orange County.
It’s special when grandparents are able to be at a photo session. Not only do they get to make lasting memories with their grandkids, but they have been through parenthood. They’ve seen it all. So, they add a laid-back vibe that is wonderful when things can stressful trying to get little ones to cooperate.
If the grandparents are going to be in town (or they already live here) consider adding them to your photo session. It’ll make your life a whole lot easier. And, you get the added bonus of photographing them with their grand kids. Hello, perfect present!
“When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate. And when life is bitter, say thank you and grow.”
― Shauna Niequist, Bittersweet: Thoughts on Change, Grace, and Learning the Hard Way
Such a poignant reminder that when life is less than ideal, not only do we need to cope, but we need to grow. After a particularly rough week, I was happy to have a weekend with good photo sessions. People that love each other and let me in to capture it all.
**If you are interested in a couch photo session, I have a few spots left on March 30. Email or call to sign up. (Contact buttons on the left.)
