This photo session has been months in the making. I talked to Scott soon after we moved here in June and he told me they were expecting…back then it seemed like forever away. But, last week their family welcomed Michah and the moment was here. Doesn’t it seem like pregnancy time flies? Especially when you’re not the one that’s pregnant. 🙂
Micah is perfect in every way! He slept just about the entire time, was super mellow, has amazing skin and allowed his 2 year old big brother to hold him!! (It’s actually really rare to get a great shot of toddlers with their new babies…but these brothers were amazing…I got several super cute pictures of them!)
Here’s a few more of Micah…
Here he is with his gorgeous mommy…
And in his daddy’s arms…
A cute family moment…
And his proud big brother JC (Happy Birthday big guy!)
Congratulations Shannon and Scott…it was great to get to know you and your beautiful family!

I just mailed off another canvas today, so I snapped a quick picture of it before it went to its happy owner!
Canvases are such a modern alternative to framing prints. They look clean and classic…but different from what most people have on their walls. PLUS…you take it out of the box and put it on your wall. It’s literally that easy. The canvases come with archival paper on the back, hardware and little bumpers to protect your wall.
Another product I’m loving these days are mini-books. They are perfect for stashing away in your handbag and showing off your kids at school, the gym, shopping…wherever you might be. Kids love them too. Anything mini is bound to be popular! These little guys are 5×5, come with a custom cover and the pages can range from simple to fancy (as shown).
Hope you enjoyed today’s sampling of fun products!!

This weekend I drove down to Laguna Niguel to photograph Jamie at week 34 of her pregnancy. She’s a pregnant model and also owns a spray tan business. This is her third baby…wow.
It’s probably a good thing that not all of us look this amazing while pregnant…the world might get a little over populated. 🙂
I love this moment captured between her and Michael…
Like I said, Jamie and Michael already have two precious little girls. They napped during the entire photo session and woke up chipper just as the sun was setting.
Jamie and I talked about doing some more traditional maternity shots, then incorporating a pop of color. I’ll end this post with a few that we took just outside her back door. Amazing!
Thanks Jamie and Michael for a great photo session…I hope you enjoy the pictures! And I can’t wait to meet Jace!!

I just got home from a maternity shoot and downloaded my cards. I’m so pumped about all the amazing images! I won’t spill all the details now, because I’ll be devoting a whole post to Jamie and her family. But, I simply could not let a minute pass without sharing this with you…
Can I just say that downloading and opening images is like Christmas!! I know when I have a good shot, but being able to get it in photoshop and play makes me like a kid and a candy store. Way to work it Jamie and Michael!
Check back tomorrow for the rest of their story-

…that it’s actually warming up a little! Yoo, hoo! Warm enough to warrant a sundress (not for me, but Jillian deemed it warm enough) and warm enough to sit at my computer without being wrapped in a cozy blanket.
I was going to pass on posting today, but on a whim, I grabbed Jillian in her sundress and took her to the backyard for a few snapshots.
Our guest house is still being built, but the walls are now painted. I’m having visions of using it as a natural light studio. You know me and my cool vintage furniture, so it’ll be the perfect place to house it all. And when it’s rainy or I feel like changing things up I can shoot inside.
This was taken in front of the pool, which has come a long way. I wish I had taken a picture of the before. It was a swamp. Lit-er-ally a swamp…as in can’t see to the bottom, mosquito hosting, does Shrek live here? swamp.
Lastly, a little warm glow from the setting sun…
Oh and by the way, I’m gonna try some new things in my free time. One of them is learning how to shoot with a very wide aperture. These were all shot in 1.2 on my 50mm lens. I’m always a little scared of blowing a shot because of the camera focusing on one eye or something, but I’m starting to figure it out. Practice, practice, practice!

Is any one else completely over the frigid weather of southern California?? I read on someone else’s blog that we didn’t pay three times as much for our houses (than anywhere else in the nation) to be freezing in January! I paid that much so I could wear flip flops in January…come on weather….give us a little love!
To warm us up a little, I’ll post some beachy pictures I took this summer in San Pedro.
Dear Mom and Dad (in Montana)…really, nothing against cold weather. Don’t worry, you raised me right. I just have become a wimp after 13 years of living in California.
love,
Kristin
Remember this basket? Its new job is holding lemons from my tree.
I never thought I’d own a lemon tree…or live in Long Beach for that matter! But, here we are…and loving life. A new year brings change and fresh starts- a chance to move toward new goals and be better than the year before. I feel like my new year started in June when we moved here, but this January I’m re-grouping. In fact today I’m holding a meeting with me, myself and I to write a business plan for 2009, tinker with my logo a little and figure out ways to make my products better, my workflow easier and just be overall more fabulous!
I hope your 2009 is off to a great start!

The short answer is Disneyland! I had you all lulled into thinking that I was so on top of things. You believed I had oodles of time to sit around and blog every day. The facade has crumbled! I was great in December about blogging every day, but January has not been off to a great start. 🙂
The good news is that I’m logging in some great time with my family. School starts Monday, so we’ll be back to the daily grind- which means more blogging.
My photo session for today was cancelled, so we spent the day at Disneyland. With no camera, fancy that! So, instead I’ll share a little goody I found when I was finishing up a gallery.
Love this image!  Anyone want to come up with a caption for it?
I’ve already got a few photo sessions scheduled for January, so you’ll be seeing tons more new eye candy!

Keeping the kids busy…for two weeks with no school.
My kids will be natural celebrities…they have paparazzi at their every day events, like playing with playdough. On another note, we have a total of zero cool plans for New Years tomorrow. I’m hoping something fun comes up in the next 24 hours!
