If you live in Southern California…you’re probably finding any excuse to get outside. It was gorgeous today!! So, I’ll make this short and sweet so you can get out and enjoy the sunshine. 🙂
Claire, the baby of the bunch, modeled for me when I did a photo shoot for Green as Wee Grow. She’s a lot older now and brought her big brother and sister with her to the photo shoot.
Such a cute family! Lisa and I work out together…so we planned this photo session while getting our behinds kicked by our lift instructor! We decided on Point Fermin Light House so we could do a little greenery and a little beach. It was a nice change to be at a rocky beach and the light couldn’t have been better!
I’m so glad I got to photograph Lisa and her family…they are so sweet. I think it really comes across in the images. 🙂

After spending a few days of R&R in Palm Springs, I feel ready to face the week! It’s going to be another busy one…ending with the spring mini-sessions at Rascals to Rebels. I’m so excited!!
This photo session happened last month and it’s funny, but I feel like the February weather was pretty good compared to the weather we’ve had in March. (I can’t tell you how many photo sessions I’ve had to re-schedule!) We started out in my studio, taking some clean bright photos–then ended up at a local park.
Nothing beats the outdoors for photos, but I love shooting in the studio because the pale blue walls and all white furniture lend such a clean look to the images. It compliments all skin tones…I love it!
I should also mention that I’m lucky enough to live one street over from a huge park…it’s so nice to have it close by! These girls were so cute…they were so excited to get to the park. We kept having to tell Ali just a few more pictures, then we’ll go!
Enjoy the last few hours of weekend!!

I’m at it again. I should be in bed, but I’m burning the midnight oil…there just aren’t enough hours in the day!! Speaking of bed…there’s no better place to take pictures with your kids at home. It’s homey and comfy and who doesn’t like to jump on a freshly made bed!?
I love this series! I can picture it hung right above their bed. Don’t these pictures make you want to jump on the bed with them!!?

Sometimes when I meet a new family the kids are shy. This is when I wish my camera was invisible. I hate that I have to hide behind a big black box. So, I try to get to know babies and kids before I pick up my camera. And sometimes, they let me into their world. They tell me about the things they like…what they know how to do.
Taking pictures in a play area is a good way for kids to warm up to the idea of being photographed. We start on their turf! And pretty soon, they’re having fun and they forget what I’m there to do.
I have much more to share from this photo session…but it’s about 2 hours past my bedtime, so part 2 will have to come tomorrow!

I’m a part time weather-forecaster. With the looming rain these days, that’s how I feel!! I check every online source I can find…putting my hope in the most optimistic website.
Today was no exception…we were on…we were off…we were shooting….we were running for the car. My clients had the best sense of adventure and you’ll see their pictures next week!
This session was taken on one of those rare sunny days (what’s up with that southern california??) I’m hoping for more of these days in the near future!!
Fingers crossed for way less rainy days and way more sunny days…at least on the days I do photo sessions!

When one of my favorite clients emailed me to tell me that Ivy would be a big sister to Baby Violet, she called it her cute garden. I was so excited when she finally brought the “cute garden” 🙂 into the studio to be photographed. Violet was just 2 weeks and Ivy was as proud as can be!
Here’s Violet in her little onesie with wings. She’s a miracle baby, so it’s only fitting that she has wings!
There’s something magical about newborns…and I love being able to capture those fleeting moments. Also, [I’m so excited to photograph the girls again when Violet is sitting up!

I love happy babies!
Even in this picture when it looks like big sister is pulling on his ear, he’s still all smiles. Ahhhh….CUTE!
Speaking of happy…that’s how I felt when Grace from Design*Sponge emailed me to let me know my couch would be featured on her blog!!
Click here to see the story! And if you’ve been hiding under a rock somewhere and haven’t heard of Design*Sponge….check it out daily. Grace updates all the time with the most incredible features!!
Have a great Tuesday!

A few weeks ago I was at a client’s house and noticed a pretty lemon tree that I thought would be fun to incorporate in their photos. As I got closer I realized it didn’t look like my lemon tree, it almost looked like an orange tree. Come to find out…it was a meyer lemon tree! Right then and there, Pam cut off a branch for me to take home and I’ve been trying out some new recipes and wanted to share my favorite with you.
For those of you that don’t know, the meyer lemon is a citrus fruit, native to China , thought to be a cross between a true lemon and a mandarin orange or sweet orange. The peel is much thinner than a regular lemon, which makes it easier to juice and the juice is slightly sweet!
The lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting that came out of my kitchen this week were to die for! Now, I will be the first to admit that I have my fair share of flops, but these…these…well, let’s just say you’ll be dieting the week after you make them. 🙂
Click here to get the recipe. The cake is hearty, almost rustic in texture and the frosting is the perfect combination of tart and sweet.
Have you noticed I’ve been playing around with my watermark? I just haven’t settled into one that marks my pictures enough for the those that end up on facebook and desktops and such can be traced back to me, yet subtle enough to not be distracting. Oh, and it has to be cohesive with the brand. I think I’ve found it in this watermark…thoughts??
Lastly, I have a few more slots left for next Saturday in the late afternoon if you want to do a spring mini-session with my victorian settee. The location will be in Long Beach…long overgrown grass, a shady tree and a rustic little fence. Can’t wait! Email me if you want to sign up. info@kristineldridge.com

Sometimes light just sets the mood of the photo session. I was so glad when I saw the outfits these girls had for the session…they blended seamlessly with the scenery and gave the images such a soft, romantic feel.
Also, don’t forget to sign up for a spring photo session with the spring settee. I’m doing a promo for the month of March. $100 for a 20 minute photo session and one digital image.
Now if I can just get some good lighting for tomorrow…rain rain go away!!
