Kids are unpredictable. Maybe that’s why I love them as subjects. I never know what’s going to happen when I walk into a session. Even if I’ve photographed the child before, maybe they’re going through a shy phase…maybe they had some extra sugar that day, or maybe they just missed a nap. I make decisions on the fly and I have to creatively come up with a plan for the session…while it’s happening!
The session started out (with one of my most favorite clients!) with smiles and laughs, but lack of sleep and changed nap schedules, etc. left us in a bit of a crunch. So, I pulled out every trick in the book! We tickled little sister with leaves, played hide and go seek, did a little exploring and when all else failed, snuggled with mom.
(LOVE this picture.) Most importantly, I love that you would never know the situation was less than optimal. I always say I was born to do this. Nothing ruffles me…I have my own 3 crazy kids and melt-downs have been part of my life for, well what feels like forever! So, even if there’s a kink in the plan, your pictures will still turn out wonderful. They will capture life as it unfolds. My favorite thing.
This has got to be a first…two blog posts in one night! I’m on a roll! I’m actually just kind of caught up for the moment and I have oh, I don’t know, NINETY SEVEN photo sessions I haven’t shared because I’ve been too busy. 🙂 Anyway, this adorable family lives a little ways from Long Beach, so I did a little location scouting to find this location for them. I’ll definitely be going back. It’s a small park that backs up against an equestrian center. I love the white fences and the lighting is just amazing.
Such a cute little girl…and that hair! I love redheads. 🙂
I love family pictures that are a bit less posed. This one just has me smiling!
Jude is the best big brother…
I think Finn’s going to have the gorgeous long eyelashes…just like his big brother!
Finn let me try out a few of the newborn cocoons…and what a sweet little model he was! If you’re a photographer interested in purchasing a newborn cocoon, please email me (info@kristineldridge.com).
Sunset is my sweet spot. I love chasing the sun and catching those last few minutes of golden glow before the light goes away. This maternity session was so perfect…gorgeous lighting and an even more gorgeous mama.
I’ve since photographed Baby Finn, along with his big brother Jude. I’ll have to share those tomorrow…they are just too cute.

It feels weird blogging about Halloween one day and Christmas the next! Poor Thanksgiving gets skipped right over! It’s all the thinking ahead we have to do so we’re prepared for Christmas. But, don’t worry, I’ll be traveling for Thanksgiving and doing photo sessions in Arkansas, so I’ll fill you in when that comes around.
For now, hurry on over to Rascals to Rebels and sign up for the Holiday Photo Sessions. I’ll be at Rossmoor on November 12/13 and Huntington Beach on November 19/20. All time slots will be noon-2pm. These time slots will go fast, so buy your holiday outfit early and get your free photo session. All in time for Christmas!
The backdrop has tons of white tissue paper poufs with twinkly lights throughout! It looks so great with just about any color!! I did a little photo shoot with Jillian at home…
Then I went by Rascals to Rebels and photographed some of the model search winners in some of my favorite holiday clothing from the store!
I’m so excited about this new location for my Holiday photo sessions! It has the perfect subtle lighting, pops of color and unique architecture. I’m offering Holiday mini-sessions for the months of November and December.
The details: $100 for a 20 minute photo session (in the Long Beach area for up to 5 people) and help planning your clothing, props, etc. and an ordering session if you’d like it.
I’ve already booked quite a few days, so call soon to book your session 562.980.6480 or email to inquire. info@kristineldridge.com
I’ve always loved babies. Even as a little girl, I had all the cabbage patch dolls and the accessories and a REAL LIFE baby sister. I was 10 years old when my youngest sibling was born, so it was like a dream come true (and I’m sure for my mom too!). I babysat all through college and I cherished having my own three little babies. Now that my three are no longer babies, my ‘baby fix’ comes in the form of photo sessions! I ooh and ahh over your baby!!
This little guy was no exception! He reached for me right after we met. I think he knew how much I loved him. 🙂 And his little peach fuzz hair. Oh my goodness…it was just too cute.
Dad is a police officer, so we had to incorporate his hat…
These were all taken in the studio. Normally I like the soft blue and white, but I decided to convert a few to black and white. I’m really liking the high-key effect!
There’s something about mellow light on creamy skin and big dark eyes. Smiles and knock ’em dead serious looks are both equally stunning. What a little beauty!
I have another busy week ahead with photo sessions…including another newborn, the pumpkin patch and a few trips to the nature center! I’m hoping to fit in a few blog posts because I’m WAY behind on keeping you updated!
