These two are absolute sweethearts. I’m so bummed to miss their wedding! Not only did they give me an amazing photo session, but Joanna taught me how to do my hair like she does. It takes practice, but you just wrap a small piece of hair around two fingers (like a pin curl) then take your flat iron and squish the hair in between for a few seconds.
Thanks for the tip, Joanna…I love your hair!

I’ve always been fascinated with people. I love hearing someone’s story and finding the connections that we all share as humans. I have found that I am sentimental in just about everything I do because of it. It’s what makes me daydream about the 50’s housewife that was so excited to move into her new Long Beach home. The same home that I’ll make my own 60 years later. I imagine what her life was like and what she felt on her first night in the new home.
Photography is my way of connecting with the people around me. I love getting to know you and giving you images that you’ll look at and remember that moment in time. How you felt. What your life was like.
One of the most memorable times in a person’s life is their wedding day. All of the details make it blur together, so I love a picture like this when the bride and groom slow down to take it all in.

I love newborns. There’s something about the excitement of a new family member. The way that you think you know how to prepare yourself as a parent and then you’re totally overwhelmed…in a good way! I love the glimpse that newborns give of the person they will become. Little looks and mannerisms melt my heart.
I love his raised eyebrows and slight smirk. 🙂

We are gone this week at Hume Lake, so I figured I’d schedule a post a day while I was away. I’ll keep it simple with one picture and a few words.
While I’m waiting to build my client base in southern CA, I’m spending my time updating just about everything. I’ve got all new products, brochures, business cards, gift cards…you name it– it’s getting a makeover! Included in the renovation is my blog. I’m coming up on a year with typepad and I just want something more. I want bigger pictures and a custom background. I’m pretty sure this will be the picture that will grace the top of the new blog (coming out sometime in Aug).
After I return from my week at Hume, I will have tons of fun pictures to share!

I got the chance to photograph Olivia in her second week of life. She was quite the little angel…letting me move her around, repositioning and such to get the perfect newborn poses. I love this stage because they curl up exactly as you imagine they looked in the womb. It’s simply amazing.
There’s nothing like a newborn smile. It’s as if Olivia knew that this was her photo-op.
It was an absolute joy to photograph the beautiful miss Olivia…thank you!

Gotta love kids in their goggles…
We spent fourth of July swimming alllll day!
Here’s one of Jilly in the jacuzzi (or cajuzzi as she calls it) at the very end of the day.
At one point Brent and his brother were throwing the kids into the pool. It quickly turned into who can be thrown the highest…yikes.
You’ll be happy to know that everyone seen here survived the day. 🙂

What is it good for? …apparently reflecting a nice peachy light for photos in the bathroom.
We are staying with Brent’s parents right now and using their retro bathroom. I was getting Jillian ready this morning and noticed how pretty her skin looked with the light reflecting off the tile. So, here’s a new use for pink bathroom tile. 🙂 By the way, this photo has no photo editing besides sharpening.

I was able to meet Rachel awhile back and do some photos of the deliciously gorgeous peach. We planned to hang out for a bit, so it was nice to fit a bit of everything into the photo shoot.
Peaches slept and cozied up into all the newborn positions…even though she is 8 weeks old.
A little fun with toy camera action…
I’m drooling over this dresser…
This family shot is going into the runnings for my favorite ever. And not just because Rachel is a great friend!
Sorry for being absent for so long. I’m a bit behind on just about everything right now…but I’m working on all new products and a whole new system for how I do business. Exciting! And the even better news is that we may have a house in the near future. Yeah.

about Jillian:
1. She hates watermelon. My friend Maggie says whaaaaaaat? You don’t like watermelon????? But, it’s true, for whatever reason she doesn’t like it.
2. She is good at pretending. 🙂
3. She has an amazing laugh!
Brent has moved into his new office, so his father’s day present was an arrangement of canvases of our kids. I wanted an updated picture of Jillian and I pictured her in bright vibrant colors and wanted an image that said…summer fun!…so she obliged me by pretending she likes watermelon.
I shot all these wiiiiide open at 1.2…don’t you love the blurry mess in the background!?
