‘Making the decision to have a child- it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go outside your body.’
-Elizabeth Stone
Oh how I love to see first time parents. These tiny little bundles change them. Life will never be the same and you never knew you could love someone so much!

More spring mini-sessions coming up! The wildflowers are starting pop up here and there, so by mid-April they’ll be perfect for photo sessions. I’m going to wait until the week before to pick the exact location (to see which of my favorites has the best flower growth), but it will be in Long Beach, Seal Beach or Huntington Beach.
Here’s the details: $100 for a 20 minute session The first 2 to sign up for April 20 and the first 2 to sign up for April 21 will get a free digital image with their purchase. [info@kristineldridge.com or 562.980.6480]
April 20 5:40-6:00, 6:00-6:20, 6:20-6:40, 6:40-7:00
April 21st 5:40-6:00, 6:00-6:20, 6:20-6:40, 6:40-7:00
As you can see, the times are in the evening, because there’s just nothing better than sunset lighting in a field of long grass and wildflowers! This could be a great Mother’s Day gift or think ahead for Father’s Day!
It’s no surprise that I love photos! I’ve decided to dig out some old photos albums and share them with my kids. We’ve had a blast telling stories and giving them a glimpse of who we were as kids. Not much different from them! Head over to Modern Parents Messy Kids and check out my post on Happy Family Habits…Sharing your Story.
Did you know that every astronaut that has been into space was a first born? Or that half the American presidents and Nobel Peace Prize winners are first born? Those over-achievers! I would love a statistic on artists and musicians that are middle children and babies. Their free spirits make it easy for them to explore the world in a different way.
I recently wrote a post for Tiny Oranges about my thoughts on birth order. I’m curious to know if you agree. Do you parent your children differently? And how do you try to build their strengths and challenge their weaknesses based on their birth order?
//Here’s a few ‘shares’ from my family photography in Long Beach, Los Angeles and Orange County.
Here’s a little photographer math problem for ya… ice cream + penny boards=smiles. As kids get older, taking pictures falls somewhere around dental work and getting bitten by a wild dog. So, we make it fun! Tera and I brainstormed some ideas for her shoot last fall and came up with a few things that we would space throughout her session to keep those smiles coming. And I think it worked! Three cheers for ice cream and penny board presents!!!

Hey! Did you see my blog post over on Modern Parents Messy Kids? I wrote about how we are using technology (iPads and iPod touches) to help get the chores done around here!
Go check out the post to read all the details!
Falling in love with a client’s baby is a no-brainer. I am swooning over all the little newborn nuances every day I’m on the job. But, sometimes, I walk into a client’s home and fall in love with their style. The way they live.
Annie’s home is so vibrant and full of color. It makes you smile the minute you enter the door. She was kind enough to let me photograph her home to share with you on the blog. I hope you enjoy her taste as much as I do! She (of course!) loves Jonathan Addler, pins things like crazy for inspiration and says Z. Gallerie has the best Addler-inspired knock offs. Good tip!
*I’ll be highlighting the other parts of the home in a second and third blog post, so stay tuned!
