Despite being whipped around by the wind, these kiddos were so sweet and easy going…totally hanging with me for an hour at the beach.
Here’s a few from under the pier…much less wind here!
Then I hauled a piece of furniture all the way to the water. It’s all about commitment. 🙂
There were a few sea creatures we stumbled upon!
I love the lighting in this picture. You just can’t beat the end of the day sunshine at the beach!
Thanks for braving the wind for me!!

Yesterday I had a photo session in the late afternoon at the Seal Beach pier. I’m working on a blog post right now, but in the meantime, I have to show you a before and after that made me laugh.
Here is the gorgeous Kim and her beautiful babies on their own private beach…
And here is the reality of the situation…we had to share the beach with everyone else. 🙂 I strategically placed myself so there aren’t tons of people in every shot, but I really loved this picture so I decided to just clone everyone out!
Lots more coming soon…

The first time I met the boys was last year. They had me at *matching uggs* and mini-sized denim. So cute!
This time around they brought their new baby sister! She is adorable…a perfect addition to the family.
I totally related to this picture because I have my own two boys and a girl…all close together in age. They are holding on to her so tight. What good big brothers!
You gotta love a family picture where everyone is smiling…even the baby! And those pink ribbon shoes!!! Good shoes run in the family. 🙂
Can’t wait to see you next year!

When Darling is your middle name, you’re off to a great start!
Tessa’s photo session was full of girly…a frilly tutu, ruffled bloomers and lots of pink. I re-stored this antique chair to use for children’s photo sessions, but I was also super excited to try it out for a newborn. I’m in love with Tessa’s ruffled bloomers and couldn’t decide if this image looked best in color, black and white or vintage. Which is your favorite??
Tessa is five weeks old, which means she an “older” baby in terms of newborn photo sessions. She was a posing pro…letting me move her around and fold her up in cozy newborn poses…all without making a peep!
What a sweet photo of Tessa and her mommy…
What a beautiful girl, what a beautiful name!

I love it when I can make a 9 year old laugh like this…
Two year olds make it easy on me…they wear their heart on their sleeve, but as we get older it’s a bit harder to have the camera turned on us!
These two are so cute together! I loved the way they interacted…not to mention the gorgeous sunset lighting.
The best time to do outdoor photo sessions this time of year is around 6:30pm. The lighting is just amazing, plus it can be scheduled after your work day.

Just wanted to say thanks so much for all the well-wishes from clients, friends and fellow bloggers. You’ll be happy to know that after we checked out of the hospital on 4th of July, we headed straight to the block pary at Dave and Debbie’s house. ‘Cause that’s how we roll. No really, Cooper was inching forward to his release party and after he started feeling better, a hot dog was all he could talk about. Plus, Jake and Jilly were partying with our friends and it just wasn’t the same to them without Cooper.
Again, can I just say how amazing our friends are!!? We had so much fun enjoying the festivities with our little Cooper. Besides his much skinnier frame, you could hardly tell what he’s been through!
The “bike parade” was actually just a bunch of kids racing down the blocked off street….very cute, though!
The parade did have quite an enthusiastic crowd! 🙂
Once it got dark, we all camped it on the corner to enjoy the fireworks and a few illegal sparklers.
Jake’s headphones=Brent’s solution to Jake’s fear of loud noises. 🙂
I’ll end this post with a picture of Brent and Cooper. Yesterday was Brent’s birthday. He sort of got the short end of the stick, but here’s to celebrating at a later date!
All my photo sessions from last week will be taking place this week, so I’ll have lots more to share…coming up soon!

It’s the fourth of July and I write this post from Room 103 at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. We’ve been here all week with Cooper while the doctors poked and proded until they diagnosed his mystery illness as giardia. It’s been a long week, but our friends have been awesome. Jake and Jillian got the special treatment with trips to the beach, Atlantis Park, the library, the aquarium, and more! It was awesome that our friends didn’t let Jake and Jillian sit here at the hospital all week.
Cooper was showered with stuffed animals, balloons, coloring books, movies and games by his many friends that came by. He even got a visit by his principal and his first grade teacher. That’s what a sweet guy he is! And that’s what sweet friends we have!!
I canceled all my photo sessions and basically clear the schedule for the week. All my clients were awesome, accommodating and sent well-wishes for Cooper.
We also got tons of help with transporting the kids here and there, coffees during our long hours at the hospital and most importantly lots of prayer.
We’re hoping Cooper’s constant smile is back soon!
The ironic thing about this picture is– that is the place he picked up giardia. They said it’s really rare to get…and that pretty much sums up our Cooper!
We’re hoping to be out of here soon so Cooper can enjoy the fireworks tonight!

Only when I’m in Costco, do I think buying 4 pounds of blueberries is a good idea. I have anti-oxidant visions of blueberries on cereal, in pancakes, in muffins, you get the idea.
It’s only after I’m home that I realize it’s only a matter of time before I have a plastic container of rotting blueberries on my hands! So, after eating them with breakfast all week long, I set to work finding a good blueberry recipe.
I settled on Blueberry Crumb Bars from Smitten Kitchen. This recipe is remarkably easy and uses a ton of blueberries!
I love that our house has a lemon tree right outside the kitchen. When a recipe calls for lemon zest or juice, like this one, I can just send the kids outside to pick a fresh lemon. Yeah for southern California lemons! Oh and cute $10 H&M dresses!
This also brings me to another favorite kitchen tool. The Microplane. It makes zesting lemons a breeze. And it does a pretty good job on parmesan cheese too. We feel all fancy like in an Italian restaraunt when we eat pasta with freshly grated parmesan!
I’m a huge fan of kids helping in the kitchen. Yes, it takes a little longer, but it teaches them math skills, fine motor skills, plus hopefully they’ll grow up to love baking.
Here’s the finished product. Yum.
I think I may have to go pick up a flat of peaches next time I’m at Costco. So if you know of a good peach recipe, send it my way!

Who can resist designer brands in mini-sizes??
Mom decked out both girls in Juicy Couture…it was the cutest!!
Normally I’m trying to get babies to fall asleep so they are peaceful and able to be moved around, posed, etc. but this cute little girl was having a hard time staying awake! We got a few awake pictures of her before she conked out. 🙂
What sweet little sisters! I bet they’ll love looking back on these some day.
