I see lots of one year photo session ideas…but the most recent one I photographed was just too cute. I had to share it with you! Instead of doing a cake smash, this mom put together a variety of edible finger paints. I love that moms are more conscious when it comes to what they are giving their children to eat. Not that I’m against a cake smash. If there’s a time to give your baby sugar, I think that’s the time!
This one year old’s favorite food is Fage yogurt. So, her mom used the yogurt to create finger paints. She put them in cute containers and dyed them with natural dye. We used a white piece backdrop paper for the floor. Hello, easy clean up! I got set to go and mom put her down. It was non-stop fun for a good 10 minutes! And I love the way the photos turned out.
This year I offered Mother’s Day sessions and it was one of my favorites. Having a special day for parents to connect with their kids was so touching. I seriously love the images. If you want to check out just a snippet of what went on, head over to my Facebook page.
One of the families that was there asked if I’d be doing the same thing for dads, so I thought, why not!? I know most dads aren’t probably going to be a huge fan of being photographed for 30 minutes, so feel free to mix in the family or just shots of the kids. Or, bring the grandparents! These sessions are light-hearted and fun. It’s just about having fun with your kids!

Moms are the besssssst. Seriously, moms love so self-sacrificially. Photographing moms with their kids ranges from sweet and snuggly to almost falling over with laughter. If you’ve never been photographed with your kids, now’s the time to do it. Tell your family, this is what you want for Mother’s Day!
Here’s the details…
30 minute mini-session $100
All your digital images are an additional $175, which is half-off. Because I love you MOMS!

Photographing young siblings can be difficult. Especially when you have certain expectations in mind. My advice is to through your expectations out. Not to sound harsh, but sometimes the best photos are when you let go of the idea of everyone smiling perfectly at the camera. Photos that capture emotion are always best, so getting the siblings to interact is key.
Asking the older sibling to kiss the baby is a super easy way to get them to interact. Usually they are happy to do it and sometimes the great photo is the actual kiss and sometimes it’s the moment before or after.
And of course I always love to photograph the siblings alone. I think they know it’s their time in the spotlight and that’s when the huge smiles come out!

We all know sometimes things don’t go as planned. But sometimes it makes things even better! I was doing a photo session at a location that I had chosen for it’s golden leaves and big trees. We were walking through the park and discovered a little patch of long grass and the twins wanted to go in and explore. It turned out that these photos were some of my favorites. I love the depth of field and how these little ones go from serious discovery to all kinds of joy written on their face. Hurray for unexpected surprises!

My holiday mini-sessions are kicking off this weekend. But, if you haven’t signed up, it’s not too late! I still have some dates and times open, so look at the options below and click on the link above to check them all out. This session is from one of my favorites in Laguna Beach. The rock formation adds the perfect bit of texture to the already gorgeous sand and water scenery.
I love spirited children and these boys were amazing to photograph. When personalities come through a photo, it just makes it come alive. So, when I see you this fall, make sure to bring all the spirit!
