There are a few things I wish I knew when I was starting out as a photographer.   This year marks 14 years getting paid to take photos. I’ve made many mistakes and learned along the way. The number one thing I wish I knew from day one was…

IT’S NOT ABOUT ME.

In the service business, it’s about the client. And how I can serve them.
It’s about serving the client from inquiry to delivering the photos. And sometimes that means putting my own personal preferences aside.

1. If my clients want to wear something that I wouldn’t put on my instagram feed, that’s ok.

2. If they want to do a pose that I would call cheesey, that’s ok.

3. If they want to change the location last minute, that’s ok.

The younger Kristin would have tried to convince them not to change the location or maybe had a bit of attitude in my voice over the pose that wasn’t my favorite.

But, when you’re the paying client, it’s about YOU.

This doesn’t mean I have to showcase the things that aren’t necessarily my style. But, I want those clients to walk away feeling great about our interaction. And I want them to love their photos!

***Many of my clients already align with my aesthetic (like this adorable family). Or they would love tips/suggestions from me. But, if you come in with your own vibe, I will help you embrace it!***
