I have 2 boys, so I’m pretty comfortable around them. It didn’t always start that way. I have 2 sisters, so there was a lot of pink going on when I was a kid. But, raising my own boys has taught me to get my hands dirty. I’m all about the rough and tumble. Boys have so much energy, it’s my job to corral all that energy during a photo session. I love the way this session turned out. There was tree-climbing and stick-fighting and lots of hugs in between.
Sometimes we (meaning me, the photographer, and you the client) go into a photo session with an agenda. There are certain shots we want to get, there’s a certain feel we want to convey in the photos. We have expectations. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Expectations and ideals help us get where we’re going. But, sometimes, we let those things get in the way of a really great moment.
As I’m working with you, if I feel like we’re just fighting against the current, I’ll stop. I’ll tell you it’s not worth it and we should let the moments lead us and not the other way around. Sure, I’m directing this photo shoot, but there are times where you need to stop and cuddle your toddler. Or you need to let your little girl stop to pick up shells because that’s what she’s dying to do. Most times, I’ll be able to come back around to that perfect family photo you were dreaming of. But, I don’t want you to miss out on those little in between moments. If it feels too difficult, it probably is. And we should stick to the fun stuff.
This year I offered Mother’s Day sessions and it was one of my favorites. Having a special day for parents to connect with their kids was so touching. I seriously love the images. If you want to check out just a snippet of what went on, head over to my Facebook page.
One of the families that was there asked if I’d be doing the same thing for dads, so I thought, why not!? I know most dads aren’t probably going to be a huge fan of being photographed for 30 minutes, so feel free to mix in the family or just shots of the kids. Or, bring the grandparents! These sessions are light-hearted and fun. It’s just about having fun with your kids!
June 18 at the bay in Long Beach (sand, water, sail boats)
The session fee is $100, click below to book your session. The digital images will be an additional $175 (for a minimum of 25 re-touched images). This is the same price as the Mother’s Day sessions and it’s such a great deal!
I start the session by asking, is your baby serious? One year olds can be all business. They have a whole world to learn! And if I try to get too silly, it will just back fire and scare them. But, if I ease into things, the smiles will come at the end of the session.
This particular session started out with the baby just checking me out. She was curious about me and the big black camera. But, before long, she forgot she was at a photo session and her mom and dad were able to get her laughing and smiling.
That’s the beauty of reading people (and babies). If you ask questions and be accommodating, everything goes your way!

Moms are the besssssst. Seriously, moms love so self-sacrificially. Photographing moms with their kids ranges from sweet and snuggly to almost falling over with laughter. If you’ve never been photographed with your kids, now’s the time to do it. Tell your family, this is what you want for Mother’s Day!
Here’s the details…
30 minute mini-session $100
All your digital images are an additional $175, which is half-off. Because I love you MOMS!
The photo sessions will take place in Long Beach at a green park…details will come when you book your session. Click on the links below to pay for your session fee and confirm your time.
This is a little snippet from one of my favorite families. I’ve worked with them over the years and always look forward to seeing their sweet girls. Don’t let their sweet smiles fool you, they kill it on the soccer field too. 🙂
That’s the beauty of years of experience in the same field. You get to know families and there’s no warm up or get to know you. There’s only hugs and high fives! I’m lucky enough to have many many families that I get to see year after year. I love watching their kids grow up and see them flourish!

Family is everything. Right? I mean when it comes down to it, those people that you live with, those are the ones that matter most at the end of the day. We might struggle with getting everything finished at work and checked off on the to-do list. But, making family number one is so key to a happy life. I’m most fulfilled when I get to work with people that get this. And to be honest, if you’re investing money into photography than you value your family. Maybe that’s why I love my job so much!

If you don’t go home sandy, then it wasn’t a good beach day. And that applies to photo sessions too. I loved this sweet family that came out to Newport Beach this summer. We had fun getting sandy and little wet. It was on a super hot day, so no one minded.
I love these types of natural sessions, where everyone is just happy and enjoying the California sun!
We all know sometimes things don’t go as planned. But sometimes it makes things even better! I was doing a photo session at a location that I had chosen for it’s golden leaves and big trees. We were walking through the park and discovered a little patch of long grass and the twins wanted to go in and explore. It turned out that these photos were some of my favorites. I love the depth of field and how these little ones go from serious discovery to all kinds of joy written on their face. Hurray for unexpected surprises!
