You might remember Mia, Jillian’s friend from preschool.  Today I got Mia and her mom all to myself for a whirlwind photo session through Castro Valley!  I met them at the community center after Mia’s dance class and we took advantage of some of the huge trees outside…not to mention the gorgeous sunny day.

From there we headed over to an empty parking lot.  Vanessa shares my love for urban grunge, so I was in heaven!  Mia changed into an adorable little cupcake outfit for this part of the session.

I love the shadow play in this shot…you can even see her pigtails!

To end our session we went by the Rite Aid parking lot for a little jump in the puddles.  It wasn’t raining today, but we did find a residual puddle!

This cutie’s mom and dad have lived in New York, Los Angeles and London…just to name a few!  They are hoping to make the San Francisco Bay their home…and I am too.    I could take Chayse’s picture all day long!

Gabrielle had several outfits and hats picked out that made our session so much fun!  She even let me re-arrange her furniture to go with my "vision!"

This tutu was to die for cute!  Chayse didn’t like it much, but thankfully she put up with it for a bit.

One of our last shots was on the bed and I had Gabrielle and Collin wedge Chayse between their knees so she would be sitting.

Then she fell over and got very distracted by her mommy’s foot.

Chayse is such a special little girl.  She just has that twinkle in her eye that tells you she’s going places!

I’ve spent all day today getting all the necessary evils done for my business.  It’s yucky work.  Boring…tedious.  So, I decided to end the evening with a post about a few of my favorite pictures from before I started doing portrait work.

Happy New Year everyone!  As we head into January I can be sure there will be lots of rainy days.  Usually clients think that they need to cancel their session if it’s raining.  That’s not necessarily the case.  Last weekend was raining off and on, so I took Jillian out to splash in the puddles with her galoshes and umbrella.  She had SO much fun and I got some great expressions.   We had so much fun incorporating rain (not down-pour…just a little drizzle!) into the pictures!
For you local people, I was driving down Castro Valley Boulevard looking for a big puddle for her to jump in.  This one is in the side parking lot of Rite-Aid.  A cool place in a not-so-cool location!

When it got a little too rainy, we ducked under the shelter of the loading dock for some more pictures:

So as a client, think about how much fun your kids will have splashing in the rain…that is if you’re lucky enough to book a rainy day.
