Her room

A sweet friend of mine is having a baby girl, so I told her I’d take pictures of Jillian’s room to help her in decided the color scheme of the baby’s nursery.  And since I had taken them…I thought it would be great to share with everyone else!
After having two boys I wanted to go completely girly for Jillian’s room…I’m not a decorating queen or anything, but I do love color!
The furniture is actually Brent’s from when he was in high school!  I just had him paint it all white…
Jillysroom3

We painted the walls green and accented with lots of white a bit of pink.  The sweet little pink sweater and bonnet was made by Brent’s mom and Jillian wore it when she was a baby!

I found this at the Salvation Army for $75 and mixed up some left over paint to create this pale pink.  Then I distressed it to make Jillian’s mini vintage armoire for her dress up clothes and toys.  The chair is from Pottery Barn Kids and I also found that at the thrift store for $5!  Do you recognize the pink bucket??
Jillysroom4

I made all these pillows and the window seat cushion from vintage fabrics and chenille.  Both the blankets were made by Grandmas!

Thanks for letting me share Jillian’s room!

My cup runs over…

I wake up early every morning.  I like to start the day out right and I find that when I put my priorities in order, things run smoothly.  So, this morning I was praying for my kids and was overcome with gratefulness…for the three of them, for Brent, my friends…and just my life in general.   God has blessed me with so many things, one of which is the fact that I get to make a job out of doing something I love.

Sorry for the rambling…just had to share!  And since I can’t post without a picture, I’ll leave you with something that puts a smile on my face.  (I made them take this picture before they left and I took over our house with my Valentine mini-sessions!)

Goodnight Moon

Today was a hello sun-goodnight moon day.  I started out with perfect lighting and ended with a stretch of my skills.  I met Tabitha and Chris and the BART station for a practice session.  You see, I’m helping out with the CD cover of the 6:13 band lead by none other than Jeff Zabel.  Tabitha is the creative genius behind the CD design, so I’m helping her achieve the vision (did I mention she has a killer voice as well!).  That brings us back to the practice session…I don’t have a lot of experience with low light photography, so her and Chris agreed to be my guinea pigs before the big shoot this Saturday night!
Here’s where the band will be standing:

But we couldn’t leave without getting some cute shots of the two of them!

Thank goodness for sun…

After several days of rain, I was overjoyed to wake up to sunshine this morning!  I had a modeling shoot planned and I didn't want to resort to my plan B of doing in under the overhangs of a building.  Unfortunately someone forgot to tell the sun to be warm…because even though it was sunny, it was freeeeezing cold!  But I'm not complaining. :)  I had perfect lighting as you can see…

Valentine Cuties

After much deliberation, I decided to move my Valentine mini-sessions indoors…to my house!  I went by Hap Magee Park yesterday and the place was a muddy mess.  Of course today the weather was not rainy at all!  The benefit of being indoors was being able to use my fun props.
Like this one…

And also this…

Plus all the little ones got to run free without getting muddy and dirty!

Here’s some more Valentine cuties…

Amanda and DR

Amanda has an infectious smile…the kind that makes you just want to hug her!  And DR is the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back- without thinking twice.  When you photograph people like that, you just want them to look as amazing on the outside as they are on the inside.  And it wasn’t hard. :)

These guys are incredibly good-looking!!

And so in love. :)

It was absolutely freezing on Sunday and Amanda was a trooper in her summery top.  You would never guess it was probably 50 degrees!

Amanda and DR are so sweet with their godson Ethan.  I can’t wait to see them with their own kids one day!

Ethan and his hats

I am lucky.  There’s no getting around it.  I get to photograph the cuuuuutest babies and Ethan is no exception!  I’m a cute baby magnet. :)
See….
E2

Ethan’s super hip mom had all these hats picked out for him to wear during the session.  And as you know, there’s nothing cuter than a naked baby in a hat!

When I arrived at Lisa and Brennen’s house Ethan was on a ‘nap strike’.  He was a little tired, but we pressed on! :)  Here his is at the beginning of the session checking me out.  (I love the reflection off the table!)

All I have to say is awwwww….

From their house, we headed over to Blackhawk Plaza for some family pictures.  Unfortunately Ethan broke his nap strike in the car, so he was fast asleep when we arrived.  But it gave me a chance to take some great pictures of Lisa and Brennen.

When Ethan woke up, it was so cold that Brennen had him all wrapped up.  I was able to grab this shot and I LOVE it.

E11

Also along on our trip was Amanda and DR, Ethan’s godparents.  I met Amanda and DR when Brent married them a few years ago.  We’ve had lots of fun hanging out, so it was fun to be able to get them in front of the camera!
Here’s a picture with Ethan, but I’ve got plenty more to share of Amanda and DR in the next few days!
E12

Thanks for braving the cold!  I hope you enjoy the pictures!!

Meet Jake

Jake is a bit more subdued than Cooper.  He’s the older brother…I guess a serious personality comes with the territory.  I’m the oldest of my siblings too, and I admit to taking myself seriously too!
Img_6630jakeweb

On these images I did not add any layers of texture.  I used different combinations of my Totally Rad Actions. I love these actions and right now they’re showing ‘recipes’ by different photographers.

Do you notice Jake and Cooper’s funky shoes in the pictures?  Brent is in charge of the boys shoes.  If I was in charge they would be black, white…maybe brown.  When Brent is in charge they are orange and yellow. :)
I am off to a session today, so I’ll have plenty more to share soon!

Meet Cooper

It’s not often that I can get my boys in front of the camera with the sole purpose of photographing THEM.  So, with a bribery trip to Trader Joe’s for snacks, I had a just for fun session yesterday with Cooper (and Jake- you’ll see his in my next post).
Img_6599coopweb

I added lots of texture to these images.  When it’s ‘just for fun’ I can try out some new things!

I’m going to be working with Models Inc. Talent Agency in San Francisco, so this is just a little practice for all the child models I’ll be working with!
Img_6612coopweb

And lastly an upclose of Cooper…no texture needed.  What a cutie!

Tomorrow’s Friday…yeahhhh!
